Hey, I'm Hugh. I'm obsessed with building systems where the interface feels obvious and the backend refuses to break. Lately, I've been living in Neovim and reading everything I can find on systems design and what makes code actually hold up over time. The goal? Ship websites I'm genuinely proud of and eventually, build services for the Caribbean.
Education
Stack
I like pulling from a few different tools depending on what the job needs. Docker keeps my dependencies clean. Node.js and TypeScript anchor most of my server and tooling work, with Python in the mix for scripting and anything data-adjacent. Golang handles performance-critical backend services and CLI work. React with TypeScript covers the frontend the type safety alone pays for itself. Unix is home; most of what I build runs there. For event-driven systems, I reach for Kafka. And for client or corporate work, Laravel is still hard to beat. Full list below.
